Cliff, Steve, Randy and John explore San Rafael Swell, then along the Dirty Devil River south of Hanksville, and Capitol Reef area in Utah.
In the San Rafael Swell we explore the Copper Globe Mine and Crack Canyon and encounter several wild mustang herds.
South of Hanksville we took Poison Spring Rd and a side road to the trailhead then to hike along and then cross the Dirty Devil River to enter Happy Canyon. Being remote this canyon is not well known as the very popular Antilope Canyon. It is a very scenic slot canyon without the crowds. After camping at the trailhead we headed back to Poison Springs Rd and followed it to the crossing of the Dirty Devil River.
Returning to Hanksville we headed through Capitol Reef National Park and on to Boulder where we picked up the Burr Trail to Horse Canyon. At the end of the road we hiked into Little Death Hollow.
