Normally you would not use a 35mm lens for bird photos. But this falcon at Palouse Falls landed on canyon rim not far from me and let me creep closer.

The Palouse Falls and surrounding canyons were created by the Missoula Floods. The ancestral Palouse River flowed to the Columbia River, but the floods diverted it to the Snake River.

Golden Eagle. This eagle was hopping along on the ground when I saw it. It never tried to fly as I approached, just hopped away. Thinking it was injured I reported its location to wildlife folks. They said maybe it had eaten too much and can't fly for awhile.
